Founded in 2001, STORC is a consortium of investigators from different disciplines (such as epidemiology, medical informatics, basic science, obstetrics, nursing, clinical research, and pediatrics) who focus their research on improving outcomes and improving the safety in healthcare delivery for women and child. Led by Jeanne-Marie Guise, MD, MPH, this diverse team works together to develop and synthesize sound scientific evidence and develop innovative tools to apply the best evidence in everyday clinical care.
Recognizing the critical need for an electronic database to obtain accurate and valuable clinical data for research, this clinical and translational research group developed a repository to link clinical data with tissue specimens for bench and translational research. In 2002, the STORC project was recognized by Oregon Health & Science University as one of four Centers of Excellence in Human Research.
